Update: My Slimming World Journey

Hi everyone, can't believe this is my first post of the new year. I was obviously busy beavering away at lots of other stuff.

I hope everyone had the most amazing Christmas and New Year, doesn't it feel like it was a long time ago!

I started back at work this week after what was a lovely long break, a much needed one might I add, and I'm finally feeling back in the swing of things.

I know I'm late on the uptake talking about resolutions, but has anyone made any? I haven't this year I'm using the new year as an opportunity and starting place to regain focus in some areas of my life where I want to improve and as with many other people, and apparently EVERYONE in my town (they are now all in the gym) I want to focus on improving my health.

I have a horrible relationship with my health and fitness and weight loss journey. I have gone from the sublime to the ridiculous in terms of my weight. Currently I'm in a place where I just want to feel better in myself and more importantly become fitter and healthier.

I'm not setting myself any huge goals in terms of the number on the scales, I want to be more mindful of what I eat and how much physical exercise I do, and slimming world is helping me sort out my eating.

I went to group, but it didn't feel right for me in terms of committing to a set day a week as I often don't know where I'll be so I decided to follow this from home. I also joined my local gym in November and I'm absolutely loving it.
So far I have lost 3lbs in the last 5 days which has really spurred me on. I'm not calling it a diet, it's a lifestyle change, making healthy changes and turning it into habit.

My top tips for slimming world success:


1. INSTAGRAM INSTAGRAM INSTAGRAM

The support on here is phenomenal, search for #slimmingworld and you will be inundated with gorgeous meal ideas and lots of inspiration from loads of people with fantastic stories to tell.


2. PREPARATION

Being prepared is so important with choosing the Slimming World way of eating. If you arn't prepared you can easily slip up when out and about by grabbing some fast food. Tupperware will soon become your best friend, oh and Aldi for their amazingly affordable fruit and veggies.

3. DO IT WITH A PAL

My sister is also sticking to the slimming world way of eating so we are in it together. We spur each other on, share stresses and successes and help encourage each other when we might be falling off the wagon.

4. DON'T STRESS THE SLIP UPS

This shouldn't be seen as a diet, it should be seen as a decision to live a healthier lifestyle and the way you optimise what you eat is the key to this. There is room for the odd indulgence, your not deprived of anything, and if you slip up and have 5 McDonalds (oooooh big Mac be mine) then it isn't the end of the world, don't wait for Monday to pick yourself up, brush it off, and get back on the wagon.

I'm feeling strong as Instagram is my biggest help of all, the weekends are a struggle but I'm determined. If you have decided to kick-start your journey this Jan I wish you all the best of luck.
