Top 5 best FREE health and weight-loss resources



I have a long long history with weight issues stemming back to being 11 years old, so you name it I've probably done it. But as I mentioned in a previous post, this year and going forward in my life, it's not about fad diets for me, it's about maintaining a healthier lifestyle, that involves what I eat, how much I exercise and working on my mentality. That being said if you are on a mission to lose weight the list below should give you a couple of ideas of how to stay on top of your plan and keep you on track. I've used them all at some time or another and they are directly linked to my success at times.

My Fitness Pal app

Can we take a minute to appreciate just how great this App is....! It has possibly every single food item on the planet you could possibly imagine in its database, ready for you to select in order to track what you are eating in a day and help you stay on top of your goals. Not only that but a lesser known element of the App, the blog & community pages are also great at inspiring you to keep on pushin!

Pinterest

There are thousands and thousand of Pins on Pinterest which can either help you with your meal planning, inspire you to keep going, show you certain exercises, provide diet humour etc. etc. You name it and it's probably on there. Feeling a little uninspired and tempted to chow down on an entire chocolate cake? Just click that little button on your smart phone and re-align those thoughts. POPSUGAR ACTIVE App

This is such a great App! If you don't have a gym membership, or just fancy switching up your fitness activity check this app out for some fantastic at home work out videos. And we're not talking 5 min videos and then you have to pay for the rest, I mean full on 30 min long workouts, free to those who want them.

Ah Ha!! I bet you didn't see that one coming, but I'm serious! Get a group of you together who are committed to taking on a healthier lifestyle and talk to each other. I currently do this with my sister, I send her a picture of the scales every Friday. Regardless of the number on the scales she will get the picture so that she can keep me motivated. I'm pretty sure this is more powerful than just tracking this on your own, in an app or in a notebook because you have someone keeping you going and supporting you.

There are often a lot of free runs you can sign up to in your local area. Seek them out, sign up and get motivated! Often if you know you have something coming up you are more likely to focus on the end goal. If that end goal is running 10k and currently you are inactive, by training you will inevitably shape up and feel fitter, stronger and healthier. You will focus on training, and running can be done anywhere, and you will reap the benefits.
